Why SMBs should outsource Managed IT Services?
This article gives a general overview of why SMBs should outsource their Managed IT Services, how the MSP business is on the rise, what is new in the market and why companies should outsource their IT because of cyberthreats. To begin with, who are Managed IT Service Providers?
Managed IT services is the practice of outsourcing some processes and tasks on a proactive basis in order to improve operations and reduce costs. It reduces operating expenses by simplifying IT operations, increasing customer satisfaction and improving the service quality. Managed IT services include everything from post-launch support to long-term application operations.
The pandemic brought a lot of changes in the way that people function and work. People started wanting to move to the cloud to carry out their everyday work more seamlessly. As the world was changing its business models and was adjusting to this new norm, MSPs held an upper hand. As people started working remotely, the reliance on cloud platforms has shown massive growth.
Due to the adoption of remote working modes by businesses, demand for cloud-based solutions has increased significantly since the breakout of COVID-19. As more IT decision-makers seek to benefit from current cloud environments, they are increasingly encountering longer project timelines and higher budget requirements.
The Mordor Intelligence Report
A Mordor Intelligence report (period-of-study from 2020-2027 and the base year to be 2021) has stated that there is massive and fastest market growth being witnessed in the Asia Pacific region.
The Managed Services Market was valued at USD 161.37 billion in 2021 and it is expected to reach USD 311.32 billion USD by 2027. This itself shows how tremendous the growth for Managed Service Providers will be.
Managed IT Services? Professional Services and Cloud Adoption are on the rise
Managed IT Services are not just about the routine managed services like NOC and Helpdesk, it also includes Professional Services. Many MSPs are steering their path towards helping their customers build a modern workplace using cloud adoption. Many use Microsoft, many go for Amazon and many for Google.
The earlier and the quicker that MSPs adapt to catering customers with cloud services, the more profitable it’ll be for them.
And MSPs being able to offer skilled engineers at a much lower price than what a it would take to have an IT Guy on-prem, leaves the customer with more options to explore.
Just think, if you live in city A, you have access to the pool of skilled resources in city A but if you go global, you will unlock access to a pool of skilled talent from all across the globe. Now, isn’t that impressive.
But when it comes to MSPs, the skills you need can be found anywhere globally, the difference you can see will be on the cost side. Better than one or two in-house IT Guys is a team of engineers that are highly experienced and skilled across various tools and platforms.
Cyberthreats are rising
Another reason why the inclination towards MSP or MSSPs would scale is because of cyberthreats being on the rise. And the major target here would be SMBs. As a report states that 43% of all data breaches are targeted on SMBs. The same report also goes on to say that 83% of SMBs Lack the Funds to Deal with the Repercussions of a Cyber Attack. 62% of SMBs Lack the In-House Skills to Handle Cyber Security. 54% of SMBs Believe Their Companies are “Too Small” to Be Ransomware Targets.
These are all alarming facts since many believe that they won’t be of interest and won’t be targeted and their data is in safe hands. But it is a given that when the Internet gets into the picture, things are bound to be unsafe unless protected by some strong safety measures.
Which MSP should you outsource to?
The one that fits your budget? Of course, yes but also if you are a small business owner having 3-30 employees, tie up with an MSP that serves that size. If you are more than 50 or 100, tie-up with larger MSPs. If you are a large enterprise, go for an MSP that is capable enough to cater to all your needs.
Also, one thing that often goes unnoticed and a factor that people do not take into consideration is that they should tie up with MSPs that have similar goals and share the same mindset and goal.
